Mr David Sweetnam is an internationally renowned senior orthopaedic surgeon sub-specialising in all aspects of knee problems.
He is joint Head of the Knee Surgery Department at Schoen Clinic London, where he is responsible for overseeing the team of consultant knee surgeons all of whom seek to provide first-class evidence-based care by carefully monitoring patient outcomes. He qualified as a doctor in 1987 from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University College London, where he also won The Fitton Prize in Orthopaedic Surgery. Subsequent to receiving his medical degree, David undertook orthopaedic training at The Royal United Hospital in Bath and was later appointed to The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Registrar Training Scheme.
David played a pivotal role in the establishment of the IOI, and continues to be engaged through his role on the Academic Management Committee, where he is responsible for developing strategies and partnerships to advance progress in seeking solutions to the health crisis posed by antimicrobial resistance.
